Reviewing the level of attendance for webcast and webinar events

Webinars and webcasts are still a key tool of the B2B marketer. As you may know, Smart Insights use the BrightTALK webcast platform for featured Expert commentators and content partners. As is standard with webinars, these feature a live interactive session reviewing slides and then an on-demand follow-up. We thought we would share the internal data on webinar attendance from BrightTALK since it could help B2B marketers who are planning or reviewing attendance for online events. Webinar Attendance - No Show, Live and On Demand You can see the number of no-shows against and Live and On Demand viewings- this is in line with what we see - a good level of On Demand access as well as the live viewings. They have also shared the growth in numbers before an agent and then how…

A briefing on this new branding feature in YouTube's "One Channel"

Viewers who are yet to subscribe to your YouTube channel and visit your channel page, can now be greeted by a video telling them why they should hit the subscribe button. This is an opportunity to show these potential subscribers what you do, and why they should sign up. This new feature is just one part of the new “One Channel’ design that YouTube started rolling out in March 2013. The core benefit of this new design is that your channel will have a uniform look across devices. Other useful features include the ability to create playlists and the ability to link to associated channels straight from your channel homepage. The most exciting feature, as far as creativity goes, is definitely the trailer feature. Here's one nice example of a channel featuring it: …

Could Google Hangouts on Air be the solution for your video platform?

Videos are some of the trickiest marketing assets for companies to produce. They require a lot of preparation and are expensive to produce and market. Google Hangouts on Air offer a way to broadcast your videos to the world, for free. Could it be an cost-effective tool to improve your marketing strategies by creating videos quickly and broadcasting them widely?

What are Google Hangouts on Air?

Google created Hangouts as a web-based tool to allow Google plus subscribers to communicate via video. Originally, the tool set up a virtual room where up to ten people could hang-out together to converse or carry out more complexes tasks, like group meetings. Last year, Google developed a feature that allows you to share your hangouts on your YouTube channels, and more recently, that allows you to broadcast your hangouts live to…

Tint gives businesses an easy way to bring Social Media Feeds to their websites

Value: [rating=3] Recommended link: Tint Gallery example Last year, Chris Soames highlighted that companies are looking for ways to aggregate their social media content in one branded area, which we refer to as 'Social Hubs'.  There are already platforms or technology to support this, but recently Tint (http://www.tintup.com)  has been getting rave reviews such as this intro from Rip Empson at TechCrunch. He explains how USC graduates, Tim Sae Koo, Nikhil Aitharaju, Eunice Noh and Ryo Chiba launched Tint in December 2012 as a simple, DIY platform that helps brands aggregate, curate and display social media feeds from multiple networks on their websites, in their mobile apps, Facebook pages and event displays. So, it helps brands create social hubs on top of their digital properties. Businesses can link their Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest,…

A Wordpress plugin that shows how everyone can manage their content calendar

In a previous post I wrote about an editorial calendar spreadsheet which we have created to help marketers manage their content marketing. While the spreadsheet allows you to plan and manage different types of content within a team, operational tools are useful too. In this post I wanted to share a tool we use with it for managing posting on the Smart Insights website - The Wordpress Editorial Calendar plug-in. It will be particularly interesting for Wordpress bloggers who don't know about it, but may also interest others since it shows how you can make your editorial process more streamlined. I first heard about this plugin through Chris Brogan who describes how he uses it.

About the Editorial calendar plugin

The plugin works with the basic blog functionality you have come to know and love in WordPress.…

Online video content creation and placement options

Video is quickly becoming the most sought after marketing content with higher user engagement than any other medium. Video content is a popular marketing tactic utilised by 87 percent of marketers to improve engagement with consumers, according to a study by Outbrain. Video on a Global Scale

You will probably know that YouTube is the second largest search engine in the world. With over four billion hours of video watched every month, it provides endless opportunities for marketers. Those four billion views on YouTube are coming from all around the world. YouTube’s statistics state that 70 percent of their visits are from outside the U.S. They’re localised in 61 languages across 53 countries. Video localisation is an important aspect…

Ideas to humanise your online communications

As we all now become digital natives, it makes you step back and think and ultimately realise that those who follow us, will be born into a purely digital society, where eBooks and augmented reality will have gone from exotic to everyday. Thinking about what this means in the future is intriguing, but it's equally interesting right here and now in 2013. Technology, software and the devices we use, have of course shaped our social and human behavior on a number of levels, from shopping, to leisure, to business. Lives are lived online, and the opportunity to have a live feed into the minds of those you care about is becoming a clearer reality. People are more willing to share and consume horizontally through their social networks, rather than vertically. The organic spread of ideas, relationships, and trade can now be observed and measured on scales…

What are the marketing applications of Google Glass?

The German blog Brille Kaufen has created a really interesting infographic explaining how Google Glass works. Thanks to @wbw_Jeff of Who's blogging What for alerting us to it. Jeff Ente notes that little has been written on the marketing implications of Glass just yet although Paid Content has written about the style of content and apps that could work for Google Glass. Exciting...and scary! You probably saw the original demo of Google Glass, this is Google's latest from February. …

Mystery shopping survey on consumer sentiment towards videos

In our new guide to video marketing we show how video marketing can help support marketing goals using examples from across B2B and B2C sectors. In consumer retail it's recognised that videos can have a dramatic impact in some categories. For example, the well known Zappos video conversion test that saw employee demonstration videos yield a sales impact of +6 to +30%. But how do consumers perceive video marketing and what are they looking for? There are useful insights in this research from Etailing Group and Invodo who carried out a Mystery Shopping Survey to draw out ‘consumers use of sentiment towards video with delivering superior shopping experience via video'. It probed questions to look into video consumption, what consumers expect from videos, how it affects their purchasing, where they…

YouTube passes 1 billion monthly users showing the opportunity for video marketing

We think video is still an underused marketing tool for companies given its popularity with consumers and the many options for video marketing. As our new 7 Steps guide to video marketing explains, enthusiastic adopters are using it to improve SEO rankings, site engagement and customer conversion. Our guide shows how to create and implement a strategy to make the most of the opportunity from video marketing. As an example of this opportunity, Paul Roger's recent post on using products to increase conversion rate showed the power of video to persuade consumers about a product. For example, Matt Lawson, Head of Conversion at ao.com explains: “Video gives us the opportunity to wow our customers and this in turn delivers results. We have tested and proven that when someone watches our video reviews they’re 120.5%…
