LinkedIn have announced two new features this week: Showcase Pages and Talent Updates. So, how are these new services relevant to marketers?
Showcase Pages are new, focused brand pages
This new feature is most worthy of consideration by marketers. They provide businesses with a more targeted page to promote a specific product or brand, with a maximum of 10 showcase pages, so content can now be targeted and more relevant to specific audiences. At the moment these are free.
Microsoft have piloted this with a showcase page for their Office product you can see more examples of Showcase Pages from Adobe and others by following the
Do you need to set these up? We think most companies will decide depending on the popularity of their current LinkedIn company page - if this has significant clickthroughs and there are regular updates specific to the brand - as with Office - then it could be worthwhile. Otherwise, likely not, since LinkedIn already provides Product and Services pages as part of the Company page which can serve a similar purpose. This said, if a smaller to medium company has distinct products serving different audiences with clear branding this could help deliver more targeted updates.
Talent Updates in 'Recruiter'
Within the paid premium tools of the ‘Product Recruiter’, where Recruiters can search further afield for candidates beyond their own connections, this new free feature has been released to bring more engagement opportunities to content sharing and greater contact strategy – to allow companies to convert ‘warm prospects to hires’.
Status updates can be shared with Corporate Followers from within the ‘Recruiter section’, and 'Talent' can be added to a pipeline. If companies are looking to share content from blog posts, to videos or events to support the recruitment process then the content can now be shared in new ways.
